Petrol prices continue to rise, hitting 8-year high
Petrol prices have hit a high not seen since October 2013 with a litre of unleaded petrol rising 2.7p to 132.19p. Diesel also rose 2.5p to 134.32p the highest it has been in over 2 years.

The prices have been pushed up by the cost of oil which has seen barrel prices increase by 10%. The cost of a barrel went up from $69.37 to $76.12 at the end of June and this increase has led to the wholesale cost of petrol increasing by 3p and by 2p for diesel.
This increase is being felt across the country with the four biggest supermarket pumps all increasing by 3.3p on average to 128.17p. This does however make the make the average cost of a tank £2.20 cheaper on average when you fill up from a supermarket forecourt.
