BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear Guide

We are a member of the BVRLA, the governing body for leasing, fleet management and vehicle rental. As a member, we follow the high standards detailed in the BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear Guide, giving you the confidence that we will always treat you fairly when a vehicle is returned to us. Our end-of-lease damage charges are consistently among the lowest in the leasing industry which is testament to our fair approach to wear and tear.

When you lease a car from us, you specify the duration of the agreement and the number of miles you expect to drive. For example, you might opt for a three-year lease with 10,000 miles per year, or a four-year lease with 20,000 miles annually. With this in mind, we take a thoughtful approach, take the vehicle's usage into consideration, and only apply charges that we believe are reasonable.

BVRLA’s Fair Wear and Tear Guidelines

Exterior:

Small scratches (up to 25mm in length) are typically acceptable, as are small chips. Dents larger than 10mm, especially if they are on multiple panels, are not.

Wheels and tyres:

Light scuffs (up to 50mm) on alloys may be considered fair wear and tear, but larger or more significant damage will need repairing.

Glass and mirrors:

Small chips in the windscreen (under 10mm) are generally acceptable, but large cracks or damage to lights and mirrors are chargeable.

Interior:

Stains, burns, and tears to the upholstery that go beyond normal wear are not acceptable.

By following these steps and keeping to the BVRLA Fair Wear and Tear guidelines, you can reduce end-of-lease charges. To find out more, visit: BVRLA.co.uk.
