The issue

With the imminent retirement of their fleet manager, Euler Hermes were looking for a fully outsourced fleet solution. A primary concern was that the fleet had started to become costly and an encumbrance. Euler Hermes felt that the time was right to review this part of the business and make necessary changes.

The resolution

Activa put forward a comprehensive proposal looking at various strategic ways of bringing down costs while improving services. The solution Activa piloted was to not only outsource the existing fleet functions but also find ways to streamline processes and procedures. Activa advocated the idea that by outsourcing the fleet Euler Hermes could improve services while still developing a policy which would offer attractive vehicle solutions for its drivers.

The impact

Having worked with Euler Hermes for a number of years now, Activa have been able to formulate a vehicle selection policy using a Whole Life Cost modelling tool providing cost effective fuel, well priced P11D as well as efficient vehicle choices for all employee levels. Activa have also managed to provide a solution which enables Euler Hermes to analyse their driver's business and private mileage data as well as providing a complete accident management service. Added to this, Euler Hermes now have an accountability and consequence procedure for drivers which is designed to assist in the identification of employees who require further road safety and road competence training. Introducing a driver policy guide as well as providing a plethora of risk management products has allowed Euler Hermes to encourage and support their drivers in all aspects of road safety while reducing costs and other associated legal risks.
